So, it's official! I'm a California driver now. I just got my drivers license changed over. I had to take the test twice because some of the questions were kind of tricky. For example, one asked when is it safe to start driving when you've stopped for a school bus. 1) After the bus lights have stopped flashing or 2) After the last child has crossed the street. My dilemma was, what if the lights have stopped flashing but the last child hasn't crossed the street? "That's the trouble with you people from New York," the woman in charge of scoring the tests told me. "You think too much." I chose "After the last child has cross the street," which was apparently wrong. The second time around, I tried to think like a Californian and pick answers which made no sense to me, which worked because I passed and got my license. So now I'm off to mow down small children who aren't fast enough to make it across the street before the bus lights stop flashing.
I also finally found the car I've been searching for. I wanted an older Saab because I love the lines of those cars. Also, they're made very well and if you change the oil regularly, they'll run forever. I also wanted a convertible (of course) and a working air-conditioner and cassette player (so I can play my iPod). I got all that and more! It even has the original wooden dashboard!
I took a drive down to San Diego to visit my friends and their new baby, who's absolutely adorable!
I didn't get a chance to hold this one because his mom is a bit paranoid about germs and wants to wait until the baby is six months old before letting anybody other than immediate family hold him. Sigh... I'll have to wait before squishing those plump cheeks!
I think I'm in love! I saw the cutest little doggie the other day and I've decided that, as soon as I get my house, I'm getting one of these pooches.
On the drive home the other night, I passed this club in Hollywood where I guess some big celebrities were going to show up because there was a big crowd gathered outside and lots of lights and reporters. I was too tired to wait and see what was going on. This kind of thing happens all the time in Hollywood.
I purchased an audio interface from West LA Music and started having problems with it. I thought I was going to have a problem getting it repaired but I took it in and they exchanged it for a brand new one, no questions asked! Gotta love those guys! They know that happy customers are repeat customers!
They were so friendly and helpful, I just had to take their photographs and give them props!

It's Valentines Day around the country. Last year at this time, I was contemplating my trip to the UK to work with Laid Blak. Things have changed a lot since then. Now I'm totally focused on my music and not really working on anybody else's project right now. Speaking of which, I finally have a band!
We had our first rehearsal last Sunday and we have our first performance together scheduled for February 28th at The Derby. I'm going to have it videotaped so that I can post it on my MySpace page.
The music video for Friday is almost done. The director and I had opposing opinions about the "love interest" for the piece, and we finally agreed to disagree and not have a love interest at all, which means we have to reshoot some of the scenes and then she'll re-edit the piece and it will finally be done!
The park where we shot the video was breathtakingly beautiful. I definitely plan to go back and do some rock climbing and hiking, when I'm more appropriately dresssed.
I was glad that the weather finally cleared up and the rain stopped. For a while there, I was ready to start building an ark!
Last weekend I got a chance to go to Venice and do some exploring and finally realized why it's called "Venice." It's built on canals and is so amazingly beautiful. I've decided that I'm going to buy a house here when I make my fortune from music, which will be very soon.
One of the wonderful things about Venice is that no two houses are alike. It was like not even being in Los Angeles; so peaceful and quiet, with ducks and swans swimming in the canal and the only sounds I heard were the birds singing.
I started the day having brunch at a little restaurant in Venice. An artist had a CD player set up on the counter so that people could listen to his music and hopefully buy a CD. Gave me a great marketing idea, which I'll share once I have everything in place.
I went to Hotel Cafe to see Macy Gray perform. The performance was just as zany as I expected and she sounds just like she does on her recordings.
So, things are definitely moving along and as always, I'm excited about the future (as well as the present). 2008 is my year to excel and I fully claim it! Onward and upward!!!
I just finished breakfast and now it's time to head out and see what Valentines Day has in store for the daughter of the sun!

August 4, 2007 - It's been quite an adventure being back on the west coast. first off, I heard that The Learning Channel (TLC) show, Miami Ink, was doing so well that TLC decided to have a second version in LA and call it LA Ink, of course. They were taking applications on the TLC website. I'd been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while to cover a burn mark that I have on my shoulder, so I thought, if I'm going to get a tattoo anyway, why not do it on television?! More...
July 3, 2007 - I had a great time in the UK. The first stop was Bristol, where I met the band, Laid Blak. They just signed with Island Records and are recording their first album. June 5, 2007 - Sunday I had brunch with the sisters. "Are you twins?" I asked the first time I saw the two of them together. "We share the same birthday," they said, "let's just leave it at that." I made blueberry pancakes with strawberry syrup and salmon croquettes. We started with a lovely Zinfandel, so by the time we were halfway through the meal, the conversation had become quite lively. March 24, 2007 -I had kind of a surreal moment today. I sometimes keep the television on when I'm working on the computer. Just as sort of background noise so I don't feel so alone. March 12, 2007 - I drove down to Chula Vista to perform at Southwestern College's campus. There was a street painting festival going on and students from the college came and painted beautiful pictures while I sang.
