Daughter of the Sun Journal Monday, March 1, 2005 I'm in my room, about to work on music. I'm redoing Cool Rain. So far, I like the way it's turning out. I went to FFF's studio last week. He said he thought the music on my two newest songs was kind of corny and I had to agree "It needs more of an edge," he said. It excited me to hear him say that because I was thinking the same thing every time I listened to it. I did it that way because TTT said it should be as plain as possible and that I shouldn't get too busy with the drums or anything. "Just keep it simple and let the song speak for itself," he said. I tried to pattern the drums after his playing and while they sounded almost like a drummer was playing them, there was nothing exciting about them at all. Time to revamp those songs. FFF wants to produced some of my songs. "I'd like to just have you come with your guitar and I'll record you," he said. "Then I'd like to see what I can build around that." That sounds pretty cool. I wanted to do that with TTT but somehow we never got around to doing that. Who knows. Maybe one day we will. Yesterday (Sunday) I actually went to the JOB. I wanted to get some work done without twenty-five distractions every five minutes. It was nice to be able to work uninterrupted. I left the office at about 5:30 and walked over to Bed, Bath & Beyond. I needed to buy a heater for my room. The store on 61st and First was a big disappointment. I didn't really see anything that inspired me to spend money (not that I had a lot of money to spend), so I left and headed home. I decided to splurge and take a taxi. When I got into the taxi and closed the door, I noticed a foul odor, like a homeless person had been living in the cab. "What's that awful smell," I asked the driver. "What smell," he asked, sounding perplexed. That was enough for me. I couldn't imagine riding home smelling that. I asked him to pull over and let me out. Of course he wasn't happy. He drove off cursing me under his breath because I refused to pay the fare. It took forever to get home on the subway. There's doing some kind of tack work on the D line during the weekends now and the D runs on the A line. Nice of them to let us know after we've swiped our fare card and are waiting forever for the train. I had to ride downtown and then take the A train back uptown. It took over an hour to get home. My ride is being pimped up at Sam's in Yonkers. It should be done in a couple of days. I can't wait. I drove ADD's car Saturday and what a difference power steering makes. Hers doesn't have any and fitting the car into a tight spot had me working up quite a sweat. I got a ride home from work today, which was quite nice. Didn't have to get back on the subway. Everyone rushed to leave work early because the weather forecast promised up to 9 inches of snow but there was hardly any accumulation by the time I left work at about 6:45 this evening. I want to get into bed and go to sleep but I promised myelf I'd work for an hour before hitting the sack, so that's what I'm going to do. More soon...
