Daughter of the Sun Journal Tuesday, March 15, 2005 I went to FFF's studio this evening after work. We recorded two songs: Sunny and Cool Rain. He just played a basic drum loop while I played guitar and sang. We just wanted to get a rough down. Next FFF will provide the color around the song. Then, when he has a basic idea down, he'll publish it on a private site where I can listen to it. We'll tweak and work on it until we love what we have. I'm really excited. Tomorrow, finally, I pick up my car. I'm working a half day so that I can make sure I get everything done. Neither I nor ADD have had a chance to do any grocery shopping and the cupboard is bare. One of the first things I'm going to do when I'm mobile again is go to Fairway and do a major food shop. Saturday we went and helped MRMCS move. That man's stuff has stuff. I never saw so much crap in all my life (other than my mother's). Made me want to go home and throw away stuff I don't even have, just to make sure I don't become like that. Holding onto useless things. I tried to throw some of his stuff away. He has a cassette case. Minus the cassette. When I attempted to throw it away, he had a fit. "I might find the cassette one day," he said, "and then I won't have the case." It's for a Pete Seeger tape from the 80s that he'll probably never come across again. "Do you even have a cassette tape player?" I asked. Of course he doesn't. But he might have one again. And then what? He'd find the tape and wouldn't have the case for it and his life would be ruined. If he starts going through all the boxes and plastic crates and shopping bags now, he might even find that tape in another year or so. Scary. FFF made a template for me so that I can run Reason through Logic while recording. I hope to have the opportunity to try it out this weekend. ECB will be in town until the 27th so I'll probably spend some time at the house. Good opportunity to get some laundry done and catch up on much needed sleep. More soon...
