Daughter of the Sun Journal Monday, October 10, 2005 I just got home. It's nearly 2:00 A.M. but I can't go to sleep for at least an hour because I just had a piece of chocolate cake and I'm flying from the sugar high. Today was the first day I've been outdoors since Friday. Saturday was so rainy that I stayed in and although Sunday wasn't as rainy, it was still overcast and drizzly and not at all inspiring me to go out into the world. I stayed in and worked on music all weekend. I got a lot of good work done. Most of the music is completed for two songs and I'll be recording the vocals this week. Next week I'm going to start making some calls and setting up meetings to get the music heard. I've been reading a book called "The Future of the Music Business" by Steve Gordon and it's giving me some great ideas about how to market the music and get it out into the world. I'm determined to make something happen before the year is out and I only have a couple of months to go. I'm on a mission. I had all kinds of things planned for last week and wound up canceling most of them. I worked a couple of days at the law firm because I have to eat and went to see Shaka Zulu Overdrive (who was fabulous by the way). Everything else was put on hold though and I just spent the time working at home on music. TTT's friend came by with a couple of his friends to get some software off of TTT's computer, which was distracting but other than that it was work, work, work. Last night I couldn't get to sleep at all. I wound up lying in bed and watching televion until nearly 6:00 A.M., when I finally drifted off to sleep for a few hours. I got up today at about 10:30, made something to eat and got right to work. TTT bought me an M-Audio Black Box, which I have to spend some time figuring out how to work. I can't wait to try it out onstage. I can hook my microphone and guitar up to it and have big fun. ECB came into town this afternoon. We went out for a bite to eat and then to a movie (Two for the Money). She and I agreed that while the directing was great, there wasn't much of a story. Al Pacino's character, while one-dimensional, was quite riveting. But there were entirely too many things that happened that had no reason at all to be in the film. All in all, though, we enjoyed ourselves. Afterward, we went to a French bistro on Broadway and had chocolate cake and tea before ECB dropped me off at home and headed back out to Long Island. Meanwhile, my laundry is piling up so high. I haven't done it in weeks but as long as I have clean underwear, I'm fine. I actually went to H&M and bought some new undies last week. A few lacy sets. I have no idea why; it's not like anybody's looking at any of it except for me but as SMB says, you do it because it makes you feel good and she's right, it does. After that bomb scare last week, I'm not looking forward to getting on the subway. Fortunately, I don't have to go downtown this week. I have a job at home tommorrow so I'll have some money for the week. I dug out my Dreamweaver manual and this weekend I'm going to do some work on the site. Hopefully there will be some changes by next week. I'm going to have a glass of water, do some stretching and hit the sack. In the immortal words of Doctor Seuss, "today was good, today was fun, tomorrow is another one!" More soon...
