Daughter of the Sun Journal Saturday, November 5, 2005 This past week got off to a slow start but by Thursday things started to heat up. Mostly because I decided to drop everything else and just focus on music. For the past few mornings, I've been checking the postings on Craig's List and responding by sending a link to a page containing some of my songs -- http://www.daughterofthesun.com/SetraInfo.html -- and I've gotten some pretty good responses. As a result of some of those responses, I'm doing a couple of shows. One show is more of a tryout - I only get to sing a couple of songs but if they like me, they'll schedule me to put on a full show, with pay. The other is an unsigned artists showcase. I'm excited about performing again and I'm going to fill up my calendar as much as possible with performances. I also spoke with JS today. He and I wrote a lot of cool songs together and then when the labels got involved, we stopped working together. But neither of us ever found anybody that we worked so well with as we did with each other. We made plans to get together during the week and maybe we'll work together again. I've been wanting to schedule a performance in Harlem. There's a cafe on Frederick Douglas Boulevard that I think would be a really cool spot to perform. I met one of the owners a few weeks ago. When he found out I'm a performer, he made me promise to drop off a CD for him, which I did the following week. Well, two weeks went by and I never heard from him. I couldn't believe that he'd listened to my CD and not liked it. Thursday night they had a party kicking off new additions to the menu. I went and when I saw the owner, I approached him and asked him if he'd had the opportunity to listen to my CD. "I never got your CD," he said. "Do you remember who you gave it to?" Unfortunately, I did not. We called over one of the workers there and I asked if he knew of a CD that had been dropped off a couple of weeks earlier. "Are you Setra?" he asked. I said I was. "We've been listening to your CD every day," he said. "We love it!" That made me feel really good. I gues it's just a matter of time before I'll be performing in Harlem. More soon...
