Not much to report, I'm afraid. Those folks from S****e Audio decided to go with the other person. That was disappointing. I can't dwell on it though. I have to look at it like my home girl, LH, says, "God has something even better in store for you." I went on another interview. This one was for a freelance position doing PowerPoint presentations.. I had never used PowerPoint before in my life but when I got the call asking, "Do you do PowerPoint," I answered "yes." This gig pays $50 per hour. For that kind of money, I figured I would learn PowerPoint. I spent the next couple of days going through tutorials that I downloaded. I even went so far as to put together my resume in PowerPoint to email to them. I had a meeting with the company on Thursday. They seemed very excited at the prospect of working with me. By the time I walked in there, I felt pretty secure about doing basic PowerPoint presentations. "We'll send you some work this evening via email," they promised at the end of our meeting. That was on Thursday. I haven't heard back from them, nor have I received any work from them via email or otherwise. Oh, well. Onward and upward. Greta says (she's the one who turned me on to them) that they're a bit flakey and sometimes it takes them a long time to get back to her. She said they actually called her and thanked her for sending me, which is a good sign. I'll just chill and wait... Not. I sent them an e-mail saying how great it was to meet them and that I'm looking forward to receiving the work we discussed from them. Just to make sure they didn't lose my contact info. You never know. FF keeps e-mailing me. I have to get back to him. I'd like to get together with him and hear what he's been up to. I just don't know when that's going to happen. SS wants me to come down for Thanksgiving. I don't know if my car is up to driving all the way to North Carolina. It's been smelling real funny lately -- like metal burning or something. I can't afford to have it looked at right now. My mechanic had a motor cycle accident and broke his leg in three different places, so he'll be out of commission for awhile. Just as my upstairs neighbor was about to give me her mechanic's number, he fell ill and had to be hospitalized. We've decided we're bad energy for auto mechanics. I started a new song. I went to a website that allows people to post photos, comments, etc about how sorry they are that Bush won the election. It's called sorryeverbody.com. Some of the postings are hilarious. Anyway, I got an idea for a song called "What Are You Gonna Do About It." Long title I know. But I was thinking about how everybody was saying how sorry they are but nobody's making any plans to do anything about it. Just talking about "better luck in 2008." My song turned out to be more of a romantic theme but that was what started the whole process. I'm on my way to Landlord/Tenant Court now. I didn't pay the rent for October because I can't get a key from the landlord to get into the outside door of the building. The landlord's assistant has been claiming for three months now that the only person in all of New York who can duplicate the key is out of town due to a family emergency of some kind. I don't see why I should continue to pay rent on an apartment that I'm unable to gain easy entry to. This seems to be the only way to get them to do anything. Hit them where it hurts -- in the pocket. After, I have to stop at EHBS to print out a form letter that I generated last week. LL called me in a panic because she couldn't figure out how to print. Go figure... I listened to Destiny Child's new album as I was getting ready to leave home today. I was disappointed. I thought the writing was a bit bland but what do I know. It's not like my songs are playing on the radio. No new shows set up yet but I've put calling Sarah Hill of Sista Factory on my list of things to do today. She's been asking me for awhile to do something with her organization. I'm learning how to do Flash, so, hopefully, I'll be able to incorporate some Flash into my website. Make it more exciting. I haven't heard back from the guys with the rock band. I sent out some more resumes and made some music inquiries as well. Maybe something will happen soon. ECB sent me this graphic. It brightened my day a bit.
More soon...
