Daughter of the Sun

I think I may have a job. I went on an interview Monday and they called and asked me to come back the very next day for another interview, which I think went very well. I suggested we have a trial run; I would work at the organization for one week and then we would decide if it was a good match. They agreed, so I'll be there four days next week. It's just as well, since I never get to work on music until the evenings anyway. I'm not looking forward to working full time but it will allow me to sock away a little bit of money and to finance some of the ideas I have for promoting my music.

One of TT's friends came by yesterday evening and played keyboard on two of my songs. He did bass and piano on both of them. I spent a few hours editing and mixing "In Your Arms Again" last night, until I realized I was spending most of the time sleeping in the chair and not actually getting very much work done. I'm glad I bought this executive chair from Staples. Before, I was using one of those fold-up, card table kind of chairs with no neck, head or arm support. When I'd fall asleep in that chair, I'd frequently find myself falling to the floor or face down on the keyboard. Unless someone wakes me up, I can usually get in a good nap in my chair.

I escaped from the city for a while today. I just wanted to breathe in some fresh air, even if just for a little while. HME called and we wound up zipping up north somewhere along the Hudson River, sat in the SUV (yes, HME drives one of those gas guzzlers!), ate Chinese food, talked a bit and laughed a lot. I was glad I made the decision to do that because I felt recharged when I got back home. It's amazing that, here it is December and there are still trees that have not fully shed their leaves. We passed a house where there were clay pots on the porch with hydrangeas growing in them. In December. Global warming has some positive side effects...

RSA had a party on the weekend. She said it was to be a "jam session" and that I should bring my guitar and be prepared to jam. I hopped into a taxi with my guitar and zipped over -- she lives in the neighborhood. I never got to "jam" however. I can't say that I blame her. If I threw a party and the point of the party was to have people exclaiming over how fabulous I and my band were, I certainly wouldn't invite someone up who was a much better singer than I am. People kept asking me if I was going to perform. "If I'm invited up, I will do so," I told them. "Otherwise, I won't. After all, it's her house and her party. I'm not so desparate to have an audience that I'm going to get upset because I can't perform for the twenty-five or so people who are here."

Ham that I am, I was disappointed that I didn't have the opportunity to strut my stuff but I made the most of the evening and met a few interesting people, gave my card out, etc.

Miss P was there, too. I met RSA through her. I think she was there with an Italian guy. All I know is they left together and they gave me a ride home on the way to wherever they were going.

I went to an interesting site today: http://www.sorryeverybody.com

You should definitely check it out. Make a submission if it moves you strongly. What people do with their time is pretty amazing. Well, that's my opinion anyway, for what it's worth.

More soon...
