Oooh, it's
Friday the 13th! Actually, I'm not one of those people who believes that
it's a bad luck day. One of my favorite people on the planet was born
on Friday, the 13th. I believe that we make our own good or bad luck.
I’ve
been in bed all week with the flu. Not my idea of the best way to start
off the new year but I suppose it could be a lot worse. As a matter of
fact, I feel almost completely better. Just a little tickle in my throat,
which means I won't be going to the movies over the weekend and making
everyone in the theater hate me because I'm coughing every few minutes.
Christmas was quiet but nice. I was planning to just spend the day at
home but my friend MRMCS and his girlfriend insisted that I come to their
place for dinner, which I finally agreed to do after the seventh or so
phone call. I’m glad I did though because I had a really nice time.
His girlfriend is a great cook and I stuffed myself until I could barely
move. At one point, I looked down at my hands and I had a fork in each
one and we all realized that I was just shoveling the food into my mouth
with both hands. We laughed until we nearly cried.
Christmas
Eve I went to Long Island and had dinner at ECB's house. She's another
great cook. She's going to make some lucky man a wonderful wife.
I slacked off this week because of the flu but next week I’m attacking
again with a vengeance. I must admit however that all this rest has done
me a world of good. I almost feel like I’ve been on vacation, minus
the tropical beach and Dexter St. Jacques.
New Year’s Eve I did what I usually do. I worked on music. I was
so engrossed in what I was doing that I didn’t even realize it was
midnight until I heard horns blowing in the street outside. I glanced
at the clock and saw that it was 12:05. I wished myself a happy new year
and went to bed. There’ll be time enough for celebrations when I’ve
reached my musical goals.
Today I'm
going to get on the subway (something I'm not looking forward to) and
go downtown to pick up my check from the temp agency. It's not much because
I only worked one day last week and not at all this week because of the
flu. Then it's on to my bank to deposit said wee check. Then grocery shopping
and back home to finally send off about 10 CDs that I should have sent
off last week. Then, if I haven't absolutely exhausted myself my first
day back in the saddle, I'll do laundry (my sweaty bed coverings) and
straighten up my place a bit.
More soon...
